Dairy has had an interesting history in marketing. In the 1980’s, campaigns stressed that drinking milk promotes healthy bones. Then the popular ‘Got Milk?’ campaign made drinking milk cool again. Not far after came the rise of milk alternatives like soy, almond and oat milk. Now consumers are going back to their roots and realizing the benefits of whole milk dairy products, especially with the help of brands like AE Dairy!
AE Dairy wanted to spread the message that whole milk dairy is delicious and nutritious. They activated Hummingbirds in Des Moines and Kansas City, MO to try their products and share about them on Facebook and Instagram.

Anderson Erickson Dairy was founded in 1930 by Iver Erickson. An investment from his childhood friend, William “Andy” Anderson, allowed them to take $15,000 and purchase all of the necessary equipment to start a farm. At the time, there were 150 other dairy farms in Des Moines, so the competition was stiff. Lucky for consumers across Iowa, Kansas City, and other communities, the pair persevered and their time-tested recipes are still being used today!
AE Dairy is also a supporter of renewable energy for Iowa and beyond! They partner with MidAmerican Energy and the Renewable Advantage Program, and they’re transitioning to a carbon neutral brown board carton for their milk.

Birds received gift cards to go to their local store and try AE dairy products like whole milk, chocolate whole milk, and whole milk yogurt.

When the hummingbirds posted about AE Dairy products on social media, many people commented that they grew up drinking AE milk and eating AE yogurt! Seeing the brand in their friends’ feeds was nostalgic and drove them to pick up an AE Dairy product, too!
