Music is the epicenter of communities and their identities. First Avenue is a vital part of the Minneapolis music culture and values all of their guests, whether performing or viewing. Hummingbirds had the opportunity to go to a variety of shows and share about their experiences surrounding the performance.

First Avenue is one of the longest running, independently owned and operated live music venues in the US. They pride themselves on the contribution their venue makes to the economy and community of Minneapolis.
First Ave hosts a variety of artists and musicians, at all different stages of their career. Famous musicians have graced their stage since the 1970’s including The Go-Go’s, Ray Charles, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Eminem and countless others. Most notable is the Minnesota native, Prince, who featured First Ave in his music video for Purple Rain.
The owners of First Ave also own The Depot Tavern, the 7th St Entry, the Turf Club, the Fine Line, The Fitzgerald Theater, the First Avenue Mainroom, and co-operate the Palace Theatre.
