At the end of 2022, Doll Distributing connected with the Hummingbirds. They were planning their marketing strategy for 2023 and wanted to drive more interest for some of their beverage brands in the communities they serve. The idea of working with location-specific influencers was intriguing, so they decided to run a campaign with the Hummingbirds.

About Doll Distributing

Doll Distributing is a third-generation, family-owned beverage distributor that serves 44 counties in Iowa and 9 counties in Minnesota. Since 1965, they’ve strived, “...to be the best beverage distributor measured by our communication, customer service, efficient processes and growth.” They distribute a wide variety of beverages from local breweries and cideries, to drinks from around the world.

Campaign Details

Doll Distributing wanted to create buzz around some of their trendy alcoholic beverage brands including Nütrl, Loverboy, PRESS, and Carbliss. Each hummingbird received a pack of the featured alcoholic beverage and fun swag.

Results

Doll Distributing activated four beverage brands at different times throughout the quarter. All hummingbirds loved the beverages they received, and many shared them with friends or family who went on to purchase their own from local stores. In addition, their followers were excited to see and talk about the new-to-them beverage brands.

“The Hummingbirds have provided us with a unique marketing strategy that we are proud to be a part of. When we discuss the benefits of a hummingbird campaign with our supplier partners, their eyes immediately light up with excitement.” - Lauren Doll-Sheeder, Managing Partner, Doll Distributing

Campaigns Moving Forward

Doll Distributing was so excited about the results of their campaign that they’re activating new hummingbirds every quarter!

The benefit of recreating campaigns with different hummingbirds in the same location is that an echo chamber will form. Soon local people will see posts about the same brands over and over, increasing their chances of trying them. According to the rule of seven, a prospect needs to hear a message seven times before buying the product or service, which is already happening.
