Having warm gear to bundle up with is a necessity during midwest winters! Whether it’s a scarf when you’re braving the outdoors, or a blanket to cozy up with at night, Amana Woolen Mill can help! Hummingbirds were gifted a product to try and share their experience on Instagram.

About Amana Woolen Mill

Amana Woolen Mill is the last working textile mill in Iowa. It was founded by a group of German Immigrants in 1855 who bought 25,000 acres and created six villages to house their employees. Unfortunately, during the Great Depression, they had to stop the communal style of living and close down carding, dying and spinning operations. But the other operations persisted, and still today, they continue to produce their woven goods with the same set of standards as when they started.

Nowadays, the mill is owned by shareholders, many of whom are descendants of the original employees housed on the property. They recognized that the old housing buildings were going unused, so they created a committee in 2013 to decide how they could historically honor and reuse the property. They landed on a genius idea: transforming them into a beautiful hotel called Millwright Hotel. It opened in 2020 with 65 guest rooms, two premier suites, a restaurant, two bars, retail spaces and a banquet and conference center.

A snuggly perk

Selected hummingbirds in Milwaukee, Des Moines, and Kansas City received a blanket or scarf.

Campaign results

Every hummingbird raved over their product and created quite a bit of FOMO for their followers on Instagram! It was noted by both the birds and their followers how beautiful the products are. Birds and followers alike also appreciated that they were manufactured in the US.
